Well, I am setting out to go vote early after my shower.

Something made me decide that this election has someone that I can vote in favor for - a change from before.

It's an absolutely beautiful Fall day here and more cooler weather is predicted - a bit of rain too.

M/S meeting went on until after 9:00 pm last night. It was supposed to end at 8:00 pm.

I handled the above situation better than I have in the past, which is a good thing if one wants to stay employed.

I am learning to take life easier. When I get all bent out of shape, it seems to only hurt me - no one else gives a hoot. Most people are out in the ozone, thinking about numero uno which, of course, so am I. So, I'm no different than every one else and, therefor, I should not be so hard on every one else. We really ARE in this together...

I am Grateful and Thankful for/that...
finally feel like voting for a "cause"
to be alive and well
to live in a country where I don't risk being killed for my Christian beliefs
that Precious is a part of my life
I have a beautiful double yellow hybiscus bloom on a plant that has not produced in over a year
for this great Houston weather
to be back on a shift where I have my mornings free
I enjoy reading my friend's Blogs

Happy Tuesday morning. It is another beautiful day in H-Town.
I got paid yesterday, the last of all those crazy long hours I worked for a few weeks. Glad I'm back to my old shift hours again.
Sunday, I was invited and attended the Houston Grand Opera. Saw two one-act operas and enjoyed them both. The second opera I like better but only because it was set in the 1940's.

Also, this Friday I am leaving work early to attend a Taize prayer service at the Villa de Matel Chapel. I really look forward to this. Frank tells me that the chapel is beautiful. I have seen the grounds of the Villa. I know it is very peaceful and pretty.
The Villa de Matel is the Sisters of Charity of the incarnate Word retirement home. It has a Grotto on the premises that I long to go sit in one of these days. Perhaps on another outing at the grounds.

Today, I am Grateful and Thankful...

for this Precious gift pictured above that brings me joy and happiness
that the weather is so special right now
to have a job that lets me be sort of "out in the gorgeous day"
for God's Grace
Thank YOU

What a beautiful Monday. And, it's payday for me.

I had a nice, restful weekend. Accompanied Frank to 2 short (1 act each) operas yesterday. I enjoyed both but especially the second.

Attended the beautiful Memorial for Melody also. What a beautiful person she is and her effect on other's was unmistakable.

This lovely Fall weather and temperature soothes me and brings out the better of my Nature.

I am Grateful for/that...

my health
my life as I know it today. I have had a much different life in the past. One of travel, horses and that whole life-style. Too much activity crammed into one 24 hour period in the past. Yes, I miss a great deal of that past today but, some of the things that surrounded and permeated in that life were hard lessons for me. Lessons that, fortunately, in time have lost their sting.

Well, good morning and Happy Saturday !!
It is a banner day here in Houston. Cool, clear weather. Just right for being alive.

I am showing off my Precious little one. I took these photos of her soon after I brought her home some years past. Now, when I get out the camera, she gives me a "MO THERRRRR !" back-glance as she flees for the spot under the bed.

I am Grateful and Thankful for/that...

I have a job that I get the weekends off - what a Blessing. I worked many weekends in Retail
to get up early (thanks to my Little Darl'n here) and enjoy the coldness of Fall weather for a good change
I was able to stall Precious for 3 hours this morning. She, well, her stomach is still on my early shift schedule. She started working on waking me to feed her at 4:00 this morning. I was able to sleep until 7:00.
for God's gift of Precious in my life
for meeting Frank later for dinner - Blackened Chicken with Linguine and Chipotle/Alfredo sauce - YUMMY
that I have kept to my prayers and devotions all week - it makes a big difference in my attitude and behavior

Wow, one more month and I will have 11 (eleven) years sober and clean ! Awesome. One of my favorite photos of Precious, my beloved cat, is what I call "Precious, praying HER Rosary."

I am such a Blessed woman, I can not express the joy and pleasure this little cat has brought to my life in the years we have been together. Thank YOU Lord for allowing me to be at the SPCA at that particular day and moment in time.

Today, I am Grateful and Thankful for/that...

this beautiful cooler weather
to be up and welcome the sun rise this morning
for Precious and her "little cat ways"
to be alive and well
that today is Friday
to have a busy weekend planned. Much socialization-some somber, some joyous
that Precious got us up and awake very early. Now, I will have time for everything today
for a good book to read. It got so scary last night that I had to stop reading it. I didn't want bad dreams
for old friends. For new friends
to be going to my favorite restaurant tomorrow -Spaghetti Western ! (with Frank-one of my favorite people)

Good morning ! I can not tell you how good it is to get back to my "regular" work schedule. Many changes have happened because of the drop in hours. I have time for prayer and devotions which give me a sense of well-being and peace. I sleep better, deeper and wake more rested. The ills that I had sought a Doctor's visit for have ceased.

I am Grateful and Thankful...

for the zeal for God returning
a new friend to correspond with through E-mails (Akannie), WELCOME
that it is the middle of the week - Praise God
for this very full picture included here. It tells of Jesus' life
friends and family that fulfill my life and heart
for a bit of rain and thunder this morning
that the sun is shining now
for the very full moon lately. How gorgeous. And man thinks THEY made all of this?

Oh boy, I was so busy at work today. I collected $ 164.00 in 5 hours ! Tomorrow is looking like more of the same, perhaps more.

I have a message that I am to have an "outage" in 8 minutes.

Good thing I didn't have anything else to say other than,

Thank YOU Lord for all your awesome Grace and Love !

Good Morning ! Another Federal Holiday.

It is a beautiful day. I start my new work schedule today and I am more excited than words will express. I am back to my 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm shift. Yes, I will be required to stay with the MS people until 9-9:30 pm on occasion but, that is more preferable than these 8 hours I've been pulling.

I was saddened to hear of an AA acquaintances death. Melody J. I have been told she did not linger or suffer and Praise God for that Blessing ! I will attend her Wake next Sunday.

Akannie has been staying in touch and I just want to acknowledge your presence and your thoughts and prayers as I was going through my suffering Thursday and Friday. Thank you so much, I appreciated reading your comments. God Bless You !

I have not heard from Ungodly Sobriety lately. I hope you are well. Drop me a line when able. I'm thinking about you.

I am going to the 12:15 AA meeting today at Lambda. I have not attended a meeting in a very long time. I look forward to seeing everyone and the empty chair that Melody J used to inhabit will be a reminder of her passing.

I am Grateful and Thankful...

for a wonderful Saturday with friends and loved ones

to get out of Houston and up to the hills Saturday

for getting to Mass Sunday and rest the after that

for a new work schedule where I don't have to set my alarm for 4:30 am any longer

Today is finally Friday. I have anxiously waited for the week to pass. Now, here it is and it is a day I wish to skip.

I must show up at work today, knowing I will most likely be fired. This is that point, that one last chance and, even I would fire me over this one !

The part of this that I loathe is that, now I must wait - it could be today, Monday, what day?
Nothing anyone can do to me can be as bad as what my head is doing to me since my infraction.

The end to this will be the relief. Yet, I must go in, face my sin-confess it and live with the consequences. A stupid, off - the - cuff "joke" I made to a customer that was, not only a touch off-color in it's meaning but to someone that I do not have that type kidding relationship with in the first place.

What was I thinking? Obviously, I was not. To make matters worse, in her talking to me, she almost got hit by a gate coming down. I am Toast, cooked, fired !

There is no justifying this breach. I can only give this in my defense: I'm very tired physically and mentally right now. There was a lot of chaos as I was trying to leave the booth yesterday and, I grab at humor to relieve my stress sometimes. Unfortunately, in this case, there was a disconnect in appropriateness. I feel terrible about this situation. All of it.

Had the customer not been exchanging words with me, she would not have been in harm's way of the gate.

I only wish I had made my exit two minutes earlier. That is all it took for me to ruin almost 3 good years of service in my job. Now I get to live in self-flagellation until the hour of dismissal.

What I must face with this knowledge and the waiting for the hour, is far more punishment than anyone else can heap on me.

This trip into the job is the bravest step I have taken in a long time. I also am not trying to justify my "insanity of the moment."

I must understand the why's of this matter so as not to repeat this kind of tragedy.

I do think that I have been working a shift that was far too long and lasted longer than I was able to hold up in.

Eight hours in that booth with the happenings that go on daily - I think may have been over-reaching for my ability.

I am Grateful and Thankful...

to be sober and clean
that no matter what, I can tell the truth today

Wednesday ! I am excited that we are in the middle of this week and moving toward the end.

It is quite cool out this morning, almost chilly, in fact.

Hearing about the antics of the CEO of AIG and their luxurious expenditures after our "tax-payer" retirement funds went to bail them out has left a real bad taste in my mouth.

This kind of lack of respect and regard for the "little people" is what turns me off. These banks that are buying up other banks that have succumbed to failure -they'll be looking for a bailout too. How does buying someone else's bad debts keep one solvent? Greed and more greed is what it says to me.

I am Grateful and Thankful for/that...

I am not having to borrow any money at this time

my weekend is going to be laid back but getting things done that I have been putting off

the weather is getting cooler

I got a good physical health report yesterday. Now I just need to get a better mental health going for myself

the encouragement that I CAN start taking life's problems less to heart

through a little book written by a Priest, I can relate that part of my problems stem from the "it's all about ME" syndrome

the mind can make one sick. My mind can make me sick (physically)

no more of that business. Starting today, I take things with a grain of salt, nothing is worth getting so upset that I have a heart attack over and, I breathe more often. That's right, breathe

my mind doesn't seem to understand that word B R E A T H E - a new concept

Precious - as Akannie commented, I am fortunate to have Precious in my life. Yes, Akannie, I am indeed. What a joy she is !

God's Grace. God's Patience. God's Forgiveness. God's Mercy.

Tuesday. Well, I finally received that big check. And, I gotta tell ya, it was well worth the wait !
WOW.

Thank goodness I don't foresee having to put in those amount of hours again.

I don't want to get ready for work. But, I am going to have to.

Monday, perhaps I'll get my check today.

Had a very relaxing weekend. I enjoyed having all the doors opened yesterday that have screens on them - it reminded me of that attic fan we had when I was a kid. It was so powerful and created a big draft in the house.

I wish it wasn't Monday already. I'm not ready to go back to work.

We have a big, barking dog next door now-a friend for the loud, rambunctious boys. How lucky I am...

I am Grateful and Thankful...

that rain is in the forecast. We can use some
for a very restful weekend
that, if all goes well, I will actually get that check today
for Precious and her quiet company and cuteness
that I have good Doctors and we have a history established
I put in for a couple of coupons for this "digitalization" t.v. happening
to have a job. To have a job so close to home. But, I wish I could take a long vacation. Or, just go back to bed for a few hours
to have gone to church yesterday. We have our choir AND incense back after their vacation

life safari 10-04-08

thank goodness it's Saturday. No alarm to have to wake me, no place I have to be - what a beautiful thing.

I had to go next door and make an amends to my new neighbor first thing. He was very gracious and all is well. I am so thankful that I am trying to change my ways and live a more Christian life. I fail so much, so often. It is the Grace of God that He (the Lord) loves Saints AND Sinners.

I guess I was not supposed to receive my paycheck for 09-01 thru 09-15. My boss thought the 5th (our paydays are the 5th and 20th of ech month) fell on Monday. So, we have been denied our check until Monday now. That particular check, as you may recall, was a topic of one of my worst Blog "bitches."

I am soon to go to get my car washed, go to the recyclers and drop my plastics and paper, go to Sacco and shop till I drop, then, pick up Frank and go to dAAve's house warming. So,

I am Grateful and Thankful for/that...

Akannie is corresponding thru blogs. Yes, Akannie, Precious IS just that. Thankyou.
my new neighbor was very gracious in accepting my amends
I am ok with my boss forgetting my check Friday
I get to go to Sacco and look for Christmas Cards for this year
that I, thanks to the seasonal changes, do not have to do yard work today or tomorrow
God loves me and forgives my sins and transgressions when I ask
I started the day with prayer and devotion which I have gotten out of the habit of doing for some reason
Precious is well and happy
I am , for the most part, well and happy

And, a HUGE paycheck today for the weeks of Sept. 1-15th !

Going to Sacco tomorrow (teehee). Sacco is a Catholic Store where, when I was a "beginning Catholic, I spent much time and money. Now, I rarely go but look forward to a nice long shopping spree tomorrow.

And, dAAve and Hayden's open house.

Today, I am Grateful and Thankful...

Oh my gosh ! I'm blogging before dAAve this morning ! Can' believe it. He is always up and at'em earlier than anyone. I hope you're ok dAAve and just not at the keyboard yet.

What a MMMMarvelous, cool morning this is in Houston. Oh Boy, I can't wait to see the gorgeous sun rise that will go with it as I drive in this morning.

It's a good day to be alive. I don't care what the stock exchange is doing !

I am Grateful and Thankful for/that...

God Blessed me with Precious. This cat is the most "human" feline. I think she actually laughs at me sometimes. She is a joy to wake up to. When she wants me up she licks me with that sandpaper tongue - she knows it works

I fell asleep last night in the middle of reading the paper. It happens alot these days

Yesterday is the first time that I remember absolutely feeling that if I didn't get out of that box I work in I would scream ! We had a very busy day that got even busier as I needed to be wrapping up my day. Hopefully today will be more calm.

Precious has an inclosed area (atrium) in which to go out and be a cat. I just liberated her. I just hope the mosquitos will leave her alone

the grass has not been growing as fast as it had been. And, the ash tree pods are not taking over the area. Perhaps I can skip dowing yard work this weekend and rest, go walking in the park, etc.

new people, folks I have not met yet, visit my blog and comment. Thank you, I look forward to exchanging visits with you Akannie

October. Another month down and closer to the end of another year. Wow, where does the time go?

Feeling frisky !
I am Grateful and Thankful...

that the weather is getting cooler - what a relief from this hot summer

Precious and I are well and together. She is a loving gift to me from the Good Lord

The yard and atrium look very nice, peaceful and serene from my labors last weekend

soon, if a new-hire shows up, my hours at work will go back to normal. Back on the afternoon shift -yeah !

that with the extra time I will have I can get out before work and walk and use that new weight bench I assembled

that I have insurance. Watched channel 8 last night about folks that have none - it is a killer !

for the Grace and Patience of God. I consider God's patience as my salvation,

Good morning. This is the exact type of weather we, in Houston, celebrate after our harsh summers. The down side is the alergens that come along with it. They are affecting me this year.

I am not sorry to see this month draw to an end. It has been a hard month. I have worked many hours on the job, put long hours in the yard after Ike this past weekend. That large Ash tree in my front yard gives much shade and draws the birds that I love to feed and watch. But, when these trees shed their seed pods, it is a major mess to keep the cement swept until winter.

I pulled up several plants that Ike caused to look ragged and twisted. I am already planning what I will plant in the Spring.

I am Grateful and Thankful...

for God's Grace

for Precious - God's gift of love and laughter I get from her (and those beautiful emerald eyes)

that the proposal for buyout was killed - there has to be a different and better plan

this picture reminds me of my "magnifying mind." My blog entry two days ago was the culmination of problems that have built up at work. My boss did not err in my paycheck although, he certainly understood why I thought he had. Our company is now holding out about one month's pay. Because we are paid on the 5th and 20th of the month, the divide grows with time. The check was correct - it was the last two weeks of August's pay.
I said a lot of things in anger the other day on my blog.
I have since made my amends to those that were due. Even one that was due me. Peace at any cost has begun to be a good idea to me.

In light of what is happening in the world, my problems seem very small and shallow. This is my "magnifying mind" that blows them up to huge deals. Part of it is selfishness. Part is "it's all about me."
It is a time when discretion and prudence is in order. Also, as my boss pointed out to me, stress causes many illnesses of the body.

I am making new strides to remain calm, look at things from more than one angle(how it affects me) and getting back to those Spiritual activities that help me stay calm and grateful.

I am Grateful and Thankful...

the cooler temperatures
cool days this weekend. I have alot of work to do in the yard
Precious - she is just the coolest cat !
relief from co-worker, Ambesajer, from 5 pm - 7pm. Because of his good attitude I don't have to work 11 hours lately
that Theresa's Galveston house was not destroyed
that a friend from the building across the street from my work shared her news that her ex-husband had shot himself

I am so upset regarding my job, boss, *rude co-worker and situations surrounding work that I am absolutely almost out the door. I have worked 89.0 hours the past two weeks and I got paid for 57.5 on this check. Now, my boss has the timecards in his hand to turn into payroll. How does one miss that many hours? 29 of those shorted hours is overtime. When I start getting shorted money on a job, I start looking for other work - my last employer (Good Neighbor Cleaners) still owes me over $ 300.00. Of course, they went "belly-up" due to incompetency, (Debbie).

*Rude is not all this guy is. He's a constant complainer who does not want a solution for any of his complaints. In fact, I have tried to help him solve several of his problems and have gotten kicked in the teeth for my efforts (figuratively). No, as soon as someone steps up to the plate and helps, he starts backing away and keeps people at an arms length. So, just keep whining and suffering ye co-worker. You wore me out. Not to mention talking to me like a dog when you are unable to handle your work load (in your head). I say, a Shrink and some anti-depressants would do you a world of good.

I want to feel grateful but, I hate to say, I dread going to my work. Had my co-worker "gotten the message" about being polite, cordual and professional in his actions and words, it would not be such a drugery. But, since he is allowed to continue his BS, I will dread going to my job.

My goal is to make a radical change-however that looks. And, to find out how in the hell someone can short an employee that many hours in time when they have the hard copy of the timecard in their hand !?!?

No more excuses and no prisoners in Westchase.

Precious and her wonderful, sweet self
Mass this morning. I have not attended for a few weeks
that I have availability to good medical treatment. I am going to need to seek some out this week
alarms that work and keep me from over-sleeping
although I dread going to work this week, I will go and do my best to make it the best experience that I can

Early A.M. Saturday morning. Have been redoing my Blog Profile and photo.

This goes out to Ungodly Sobriety:

I want to thank you for your following, your interest. I went to your blog but was not able to set up a following for me on your blog. I am not very good at this. I know very little and what I have learned cost me many hair-raising and hair pulling nights.

I want to tell you that I am very proud for you to have over 6 months of sobriety. I assume you attend meetings at Lambda by some of the blog names that you listed.

I have not attended there in quite awhile. I will have 11 years sober and clean this November 17th. But, I have been in and out of AA for around 25 years.

I just wanted to make a contact with you and and I'll be tuning in to your Blog so hopefully we can talk some.

I am up late because I am very agitated right now. I have written more entries to my blog in the last two days than I have in months.

I am very tired and am going to breakfast with a friend later this morning. I have got to at least lay down and get some rest.

Well, I'm glad you are open to being sober for now and giving it a go. Hope to have an exchange of ideas and conversation with you later.

The saga of "the job" (mine) and the "bail out" (AIG, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FDIC, others I can't even think of right now) has me just ready to pack up, sell the house, withdraw any and all investments and move. Pay Ceasar what is Ceasar's out of the investments for early withdrawal and flee ! I am not sure I will have anything left considering the Government is spending all our funds.

Most of these failing companies got themselves into trouble by their own GREED ! Now, the markets are tapped out and their left with worthless mortgages and other strapped investments that they can't get loans for (and rightly so), we're having to pick up the tab. Well, I can't afford it ! I'm tired of all these big companies who are in bed with the people that run for office and get all these consessions and favors, promises and a blind eye turned - let the government US, hello !!) pick up the tab. I say, you play you pay. Why did they let Lehman Bros. go bankrupt. They didn't like them?

Who decides who gets the ride and who goes under? All these huge companies have 24-30 Boards of Directors who somehow come out of these failed companies rich.

I am ashamed, upset and frankly, worried about tomorrow in this Greedy country. A country spending my money and future on their rich buddies' failed businesses.

I say HOCKY, quit it, and I see why people stop paying taxes and get lost in the woods.

I am ashamed to be an American. I don't want either party to win. I don't believe in any of them or what they promise. These polititians all say what will get them elected.

I frankly do not believe any of them are honest, out for the good of us or can stop this speeding bullet train from crashing and killing all of us.

I am angry as hell and I'm not going to take it any more !!!!!!!

I feel the life being sucked out of me a penny at a time. The hell with this. At least Bill Clinton had a balanced budget until Bush came on the scene !

I can tell you this, one bank that I know of is concerned about a "run on their bank."

I think it's get what belongs to you or lose it today. What a difference 8 years has made. SAD !

life safari 09-19-08

this little face pretty much sums up how I feel this morning. Lost, alone, scared and perplexed by the past few weeks.

Too much work, too much stress, Ike, gridlock on the streets and in need of a nice change of scenery. A vacation is, indeed, going to be in the planning stages for me. I think a nice pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Perryville, Missouri is in order.

Today, I am only Grateful that it is Friday and I can be away from that job for 2 days
Thank YOU, Lord

"He's got the whole world in His hands..."

Thank God for the end of Ike and the destruction. I am flabergasted by the total devistation of Boliver Island and Galveston.
My home was spared any physical damage. I appropriately feel humbled by this fact. My power was restored last night at 6:45 pm and now I have "power restoration guilt." So many of my friends are most likely still without I'm sorry to say.

This hurricane was one to learn new facts regarding hurricanes. For instance, it was on the water surge level a cat4. On a wind level a Cat2. I have never heard a seperation of water and wind surges until Ike. This storm was more powerful that Carla in 1961 because of the water surge category. We live and learn !

This morning, I am Grateful and Thankful that/for...

I and my loved ones are safe and alive

the power is back on in my home. I keep wondering if it will go out again. I'm not feeling sure of it just yet
many of my clients from work are safe, alive with no damages to some damages but, repairable

One client however, has a beach house in Galveston. She absolutely lives through her work week to leave work and hurry to her house there. I have not seen her since the hurricane so have no idea what her results are. I hope for the best for her but fear the worst. I do not fear for her life, I do fear for her happiness and devistation if her beach home is in ruins. Oh sure, she can probably rebuild. I have just watched her for 2 1/2 years and her joy of going to her "heaven on earth" every Friday. Theresa, you are in my prayers !

the street lights are getting repaired and workable - slowly. It took over an hour to go to Bellaire and back to work yesterday on my lunch break

the animals of people who had to evacuate were taken care of this time - up front (thank you St. Francis)

as other's have told me, I too got to know a couple of my neighbors that I previously did not know

that my coworker who was verbally using me as his "kick the dog" object for a couple of days has now suddenly shaped up since I threatened to go to Human Resources about it. And my boss stopped justifying his bad behavior too, I might add. Really, you two !!!!!!

It is shameful that the above is so commonplace (in the workplace) and some do not know how to get relief. I almost quit over this mess the second day of it. Had the situation not turned around, I would have made good on my threat. I may or may not have gotten resolution from HR but, at least it got the situation resolved just at the mention - just say'n...

for God's Grace and forgiveness. I am not an ideal Christian or Catholic. I wish I was better

I take solice in the fact that Mother Theresa had her doubts, blank areas of fellowship with God, etc. Yet, I know she kept her diligence up. I give up and wander in the wilderness (so to speak) until I finally realize that I can not do it by myself. Then I go running back to God for help and love and forgiveness.

I can't, He can, I think I'll let Him.

Thank YOU

Ike Friday.

Well, Precious and I will just be laying around the house today. There is a skeleton crew at our building for a few of our "AllBidness" clients and a small crew for keeping our building and them in good condition through the storms.

My cell phone battery happened to die on me last night. I sit here this morning wondering if anything is opened today. I would like to deposit my pay check and buy a batter for the phone. I guess I'll venture out toward the bank and just see if they are opened a half day today.

I am now working a shift of 8:00 am to 5:oo pm with one hour for lunch. And, NO MS LATE NIGHTS ANY MORE!!!!!!! Yeah.

I was saddened by the fact that Ike got all attention and no mention of the terror of 9-11-01 was made. The hurricane isn't even here yet. I have grown weary of all this coverage of these storms. When they develop, every foot they move is all over the news now. It has gotten to be over-kill any more.

I am Grateful and Thankful...

that I do not live on the gulf beach
Precious and I have each other to huddle with when Ike comes in
that I have a day of rest today after all those crazy double shifts and new schedule BUT, it is cutting out much of my over-time that I lost so much sleep to earn
that my AA friends and family are all doing well
to be able to shelter in my home and not a shelter
God's Grace
Precious
coffee and soup to eat, cooked on my Coleman stove. My camp toilet if I need it and a hurricane lamp. Batteries. Battery powered tv amd radio - awesome. Precious and I are ready !

Love you all. Stay safe and, you are in my prayers and thoughts. Love you, me

When the wind gets heavy, be sure and cover up and stay away from windows !

So much to reflect on today. The horror of the attack on our nation and the devastation to lives from such unthinkable destruction.
God Bless America !
I remember the feeling of "this can not be happening" when I first heard parts of the report on the radio. After tuning in on the television and realizing that this was actually happening, my first response was to get to the noon meeting at Lambda. The room that day was filled to capacity with others who could think of no other place they would rather be to process the horror of what was going on. We had a member who did not know whether her mother was safe - she worked at the Pentagon.

I hold these memories and feelings today. I truly hope and pray that as Americans we never have to try and wrap our minds around something so "unreal" and horrifying again. God help those that are foolish enough to try !

Everyone stay as safe as possible. I pray we will all be safe when Ike passes through.

I am Grateful and Thankful...

that we are not living through the original date of 09/11/2001 today
God's Grace
Precious
safety of my home from the elements
Freedom
friends and loved ones

What a day I had today. What a day I am going to have later this morning ! I have not been to sleep or even to bed. So, these two days are merging into one long and tiring event.

Because I have had limited sleep the past week, my nerves and feelings are very close to the surface. At the end of my shift, someone caused my anger to get, and keep me irritated to the point that I am still awake. This is going to be a very long day because of my lack of rest.

There is a point of "no return" for me. If I stay awake to a certain time then sleep, all the alarms in the world will not get me up. I passed that point some time ago. Now I just have to struggle through my day tomorrow (later) and keep my eyes open.

I was able to write my boss the things that I need to get out of my head that are upsetting me at work. Now, I can, and have relaxed about them and feel relief. Nothing will change, of course. I know this because the same issues I have had in this garage are still issues today (after 2 1/2 years). Until people have consequences for their actions, nothing changes. And, although there are policies in regards to the garage, building management does not support our efforts to enforce those policies. Therefore, people treat us with disdain and blow us off.

I am Grateful for...

coffee. HOT coffee. Hot coffee with honey and milk, yeah
Precious who sleeps and wakes up and sits with me. Supports and loves me, awesome cat
computers
Amazon.com
Duffy and "Mercie"

I am Thankful for...

if I don't quit or get fired, after tomorrow I will work 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with one hour for lunch, SWEET

God's unwarranted LOVE and GRACE

life safari 09-07-08

Sunday is almost over and a new work week begins. I have been working both shifts at my job because my co-worker quit without notice. This is the third occasion that I have had to cover both shifts in 2 1/2 years (daily, I mean).

I have listened to interviews of the candidates for President of the U.S.A. and neither tells HOW they intend (Specifics here, please) to get the cart and ox out of the ditch ! Talk is cheap guys and gals.

Now it looks like the tax payers have to bail out the auto industry and mortgage industry. We will not have a budget to balance very soon.

Obama stamers and says "uuh, uuh, uuh FAR TO MUCH FOR MY EARS. Spit it out !

I know John McCain was a POW. I know he was put through torture that we can not imagine.

I am a HOTHEAD. Hotheads DO NOT make good managers or Presidents. But, neither do people who want to talk to get problems ironed out. First, we're dealing with people who absolutely hate us and everthing we (Americans) stand for. Most are not God fearing Christians. Most probably lie and will tell us what they think will get us off their backs and do whatever they are already doing in secret.

I have seen nothing yet that attracts my vote. Palin is an interesting choice, for sure. I like her. She can probably do a better than decent job in Washington but, I don't like her willingness to forfeit the Alaskan Tundra to drilling. Those who have been to Alaska all agree that, that great state IS the last United States pristine wilderness. And I wish it to stay that way !

Biden is about the only one in this frey that I wait to hear more from at this point. Palin had not been announced when he took his turn at their convention.

I am getting fed up with paying the bill for all these private and government agencies that are going under. We can not, on any level of government, keep heading the way we are and have been.

Look at Houston. Our roads and streets are in horrible shape. Our drainage is deplorable. We have too many people on the corners of every intersection needing help. Yardmen blow all the yard clippings into the center of the streets and leave it to go into sewers or back to the curbs(not to mention the eyesore it creates) - who cares?

I am Grateful that televisions have "on" and "off" buttons
I am Grateful for God's Loving Grace
I am Grateful for Precious and her precious cat ways
I am Grateful to be an American where I can say what I think
I am angry and I'm not going to take it anymore !

life safari 08-30-08

Well, once again a co-worker has up and quit her job with no notice. This means there will be days/evenings of working both shifts for me -yet again.

I am already at my ropes end with what is going on over there - MS and all their unannounced meetings several times, some weeks. At times I'm still in that booth at 9:30 pm waiting on two people to finish visiting after their meeting is over ! (Get a table at Denny's !)

This, however, gives me an opportunity to get off the night shift. If, and it's a big if, the process is handled right by my higher-up. I am at the point where, if I have to quit to get off of the night shift, then that may be my only way out. I will, however give a notice.

I am stepping out of my routine this morning and not mowing the yard. Going running around with Frank and looking forward to the change. Sometimes being consistent and taking care of responsibilities leads to a rut. I am in one about now.

I am Grateful and Thankful...

to be alive and well this morning
that Precious is alive and well too. We're all here together one more day
that I look forward to doing something out of my routine today
that I watched the movie Gentleman's Agreement last night. Had not seen it in some years
that I will watch Exodus tonight
for Monday off - praise God for one more day away from Briar Park
for an interesting pick in Vice President for McCain. I don't think his choice of a woman will help him now, however
I can only imagine what Hillary is thinking
My prayers are with all those folks who are in the path of Gustov. We may be getting our first hurricane in some years
May God Bless everyone and keep us all safe
thank YOU

Wow, did you ever feel like this ? A well-meaning friend tries to show his/her love to you but knocks the breath out of you in the process?

Here we are, another big storm bearing down on the coast. The anniversary of Katrina and the horrifying devastation in New Orleans and else-where. Who suspected 3 years ago? A woman in my building got 10 feet of water in her house. She of course moved here afterward. I find myself wondering if she relives the horror of Katrina every time there is a storm in the gulf. I imagine she does.

I am miffed about the way in which America views itself in relation to the rest of the world. The situation over Georgia and Russia has caused me to question so much. I was very encouraged to see an editorial in Sunday's (Aug. 24) that stated my case. Thank goodness I am not the only one who sees the things that we are doing as, well, strange and somewhat lopsided and twisted. I could put it in stronger terms but, I will refrain.

Let's just sufice to say that, in the above photo, The puppy may represent America and the cat, the rest of the world. We mean well...(?)

I am Grateful and Thankful that...

I believe I have made up my mind about who I want to see lead this nation
I pray for a kinder, gentler attitude for myself today
God's Grace doesn't cease when I am not in the best of moods and temperment
that I am very bored with my job right now. I need a real vacation
I look forward to a good breakfast, shopping spree at the Farmer's Market and socializing with my friend Frank tomorrow
that Precious and I are alive and well and together
that today is Friday and Monday I'm off
Oh Happy Day !!
Thank YOU

Happy Saturday ! I am being very lazy this morning. I get my hair cut at 1:00 today, I'm finishing drying some washed clothes and I'm NOT mowing the yard. It is the first Saturday in months that I have not gotten up and out in the yard first thing.

Speaking of the yard...I have a beautiful red rose bud that came from one of my bushes in the atrium. It is absolutely gorgeous !! This is my most fragrant rose bush and the one I enjoy most.

The hybiscus are really pretty right now with all the recent rain.

The Hummingbirds have many different plants in which to feed on and they are giving me a wonderful show. I have only seen 2 at once in the atrium. In a few short weeks it will be time for them to migrate out and they will be in larger numbers here. That is when I really have a blast watching them.

Precious is being the sweet, loving girl I have always known. I know for fact that our night of hell when she bit me is past and, I do not believe she will ever do that again. She is a very smart little cat. Too smart to have an angry mother rain hell down on her twice in the same life-time.

Sometimes that is the only way lessons are learned - for people (me) and animals (her).

Life is good today.

I am Grateful and Thankful.

life safari 8/20/08

this week is flying by. tomorrow will make 3 late nights at work with MS meetings.

I have finally resigned myself to the fact that, although I rather not work them, I don't want to be out looking for another job even more.

I have, over time (the past year) realized that I can be patient and weigh the pros and cons of a situation and make a decision based on real facts rather than emotion.

And, after all, my week is flying by because I am so busy.

A client crashed through a gate arm today and had the audacity to try and make it my fault. His concept is that, when he hands me his ticket, the gate opens. The heck with inputting the time of entry into the computer so it can process the charges and then automatically raise the gate. It takes all of 3 seconds-apparently more time that he was able to wait. To add to the mix, he got very defensive and threatening. " If I receive a bill for more than $ 25.00 I will not pay it." "I've never been anywhere that the gates takes so long to open." Blah, Blah, Blah.

I find it interesting to witness on a daily basis how people try so hard to shirk their responsibilty for their actions. I lived that way in my past.

I am Grateful and Thankful for...

the rain today
Precious
God's Grace
that tomorrow is Thursday already
more rain through the weekend
the Hummingbirds, Jays, Cardinals, Mockingbirds, Dove even had a pair of Vireo or Warbler visit the other day
that I can sleep in tomorrow and...
I intend to do just that

Something I read on a friend's blog just now took me back in time. He commented about feeling weird. I just assume it is because his mother just passed away. I could be wrong but, I recalled how weird I felt after my own mother passed away. It just felt so, well, weird to know that my mother was not a part of life (living, at least) any longer. I would never be able to reach out and touch her again, see her, listen to her voice, hear her laugh. She was just not on earth any longer and that was a dumb-founding thing for me to try and wrap my mind around. I was now a "mother-less child." Weird. Sad. Lonely. Lonely for her. My mother passed away 34 years ago and it is an anniversary I will never forget - May 23, 1974. Every funeral I have been to since hers is a re-visiting of that fateful day we buried her and the trauma surrounding the day.

I believe a part of me went with my mother. I loved her then. I love her now. I missed her then, I miss her now. Right now.

On another note, my Precious cat bit me on my arm tonight. I feel totally ambushed, betrayed and positively stumped as to why she did that. I bleed easily anyway but, she bit down with all her canines and it was not a little nip. Apparently I was not petting her to her satisfaction and she bit me over it. I am very disappointed and shocked. I would like to say that I did not react over it but I reacted like a mad woman (which, I was !).

The only thing I can say about this is that, she has bitten me once. It will not happen again without dire consequences. My animals are absolutely not allowed to bite me. My little cocker bit me once and I can tell you, when I got through with her, she never did it again. I hope that Precious got the message. I am so upset over this event. Now I wonder if I can trust her ever again?

Well, one thing is for sure, while writing all of this I began to cry a bit. I think I have needed a good cry. I just wish it wasn't over my Precious little cat biting me on my arm...some things just shouldn't be.

I feel double weird.

Dear Dave,

what a huge loss - know that I feel your pain. I just became aware of your mother's passing. She is with other's whom we have had to bid farewell to. She is out of pain and nearer to God now. Her soul is resting in peace.

I have fond memories of the night of your first AA birthday. I was fortunate to sit with her and talk and laugh with her. She loved you so much and was so very proud of your sobriety.

We are strong people and our parents knew we would do the hard things that were in their best interests.

I have come to realize that the harder things are asked of the strongest ones. Also, the ones who love us most depend on our ability to stay the course.

You have one more Guardian Angel. The one who knows and loves you the most.

You and Pat are in my prayers, Dave. I'm sorry I did not know of the Memorial service sooner. I will pay my respects here at the house and keep you both in my prayers. Especially at Mass this Sunday.

God Bless you, kathy

The Hummers are back ! This shot from past years. I always look forward to August and the arrival of these beautiful little birds. It is my pleasure to watch them feed, fight and run each other off the feeders and plants. Somehow they all get enough of what they need to make their long journey on their yearly migration.

Just another of God's wonders.

Happy Saturday !

Thank you Edourd for not being a strong, distructive storm.

Today, I am Grateful and Thankful for many things and many people...

Pat's smile and continued strength - this lady has proven to me that I am NOT in control. Our lives belong to God Almighty and that, He alone make the tides come in and go out - the tides of our lives as well

for a relaxed day - cool and enjoyable. One of the enjoyments is the fact that the storm is so docile

that I am renewed by the cooler weather

that I wanted to "eat", "eat", "eat" last night because of the possibility of a bad weather day to come. I, thankfully, resisted that compulsion. I did minimal damage.

That I have dieted and walked for a week and a half to no visible results of weight loss. Precious, on the other hand, has been dieting with me and looks swevlt !

Miss Precious is getting her teeth cleaned this Friday. I am taking the day off due to conflicting hours between work and getting her there and home after her procedure.

that I got very excited about receiving my "red letter Bible" that I have anxiously awaited in the mail yesterday

for the good seats to the Astro's Cubs game Sept. 13th for "Catholic Night". Cardinal DiNardo will throw out the first pitch

that, although I must go into work as usual, I am not as fearful that I will get stuck there by high water at the end of my shift

But, I will be prepared in case I must stay put

for the Grace and forgiveness of God. I strive to be pious, fail most often but, rather than throw up my hands, today I persevere

I am especially Grateful for role models that talk about their struggles on the same lines as above. One beautiful, loving and dedicated Priest that I have come to love and respect - when I stop judging, God shows me Heaven on earth -

THANK YOU, Father in Heaven

Oh, another month gone. Time is flashing past. However, this past two weeks seem to be never-ending. I have not been able to figure out why and how some parts of time drag and other zoom. Perhaps it has been the heat that causes me to feel like this (?). Or, perhaps it seems so because it has been so very busy at work with two companies leaving the building and three other companies coming in (?). Whatever the reason, we get paid on the 5th of the month again and it doesn't seem as though we'll ever get there !

I am Grateful and Thankful...

that for the past few days I have been walking in the park
I have also been getting up around 7:15 a.m.
Praise God I am eating less and eating better foods - no ice cream or junk
I am less down and achy because I am causing those endorphines to move about. I have heard that exercise helps ones mental state for years but thought it was B.S. - not so any more
to have chosen to get Precious' teeth cleaned. After 7 years of my Vet encouraging me to do it, after she told me it could extend Precious' life, I have chosen to go ahead.
August 8th - Friday. I will take a vacation day and have it down. Just like humans, the state of tartar on teeth can cause kidney problems as well as lead to diabetes and heart disease
that my car is running fine again and I will enjoy it for several more years if I choose
to be content today. There is no "thing" I must have to be happy
to have read a fascinating article in the NG magazine about Iran
to be happy, joyous and free today
thank YOU

what a couple of weeks ! had to put my car in the shop last Friday. I was blessed that it died in my driveway and I was not stranded out somewhere.

after all I had that needed to be fixed, I'll be driving this car another few years. Things just cost alot more these days it seems like !

work has been busy. had to work both shifts the other day - always tiring. I was supposed to stay even longer for that night (9:00 pm) but, fortunately, the meeting was cancelled-sweet.

I've gotten away from the routine that I had been doing the past 2 or 3 weeks and I am really feeling it. It is amazing to me that when I am not focusing on my routine (prayer, devotions, reading, Mass during the week) I get hooked into work and the problems, stresses and irritations that it brings.

A friend's blog brought me out of my self-indulgent attitude when he wrote about his mother and the end of life issue he and his sister is facing and dealing with right now. I don't have any problems when compared to these family issues. His sharing his process also gave me a new prayer renewal. My heart is with you D.U.

I am Grateful and Thankful...

for the fact that I have been through the loss of my parents for sometime now - time has healed those wounds. It dawned on me that it will be 6 years since my father's passing this December. My, time passes so fast.

for my Precious cat. She brings joy, laughter and lots of love opportunities to me on a daily basis

that I have a remedy for a bad attitude if I will just use it

I am very grateful that tomorrow is Friday

I am extremely grateful and happy for a good day of rain without any flooded streets out here in my neighborhood (not when I was finished I should say)

that my car is fixed. I had to rent a car and I was issued a Chrysler PT Cruiser. Now, I was happy to have wheels and airconditioning but, I would not want to own that model of car

that we (Houston) has skirted another hurricane

for God's Grace. I consider God's patience my salvation today.

Thank YOU

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIKE M.

Good morning ! No rain for a couple of days. I just started the sprinklers in the front flower beds. I usually water every morning but ran out of time to do so yesterday. Yesterday I was on a quest to find a Brenda Lee CD. I am so grateful for Amazon. After going to search several music/book stores, no one had an album. I did, however decide to buy some other oldies I found in my search:
Kay Starr (Wheel of Fortune) one of my favorites by her
Rosemary Clooney
Kate Smith - she was once so very popular
Connie Francis - always one of my favorite singers. What a tragic life situation . A man who could not control his animalistic urge robbed millions of people of a gem ! Shame on you.
I get haunted by songs that I hear from time to time. Losing You is one of those. It was the background music in a show the other evening. I can not rest until I have it in my library so that I can play it as often as I wish.

I am Grateful and Thankful...

for another day of life
for wonderful memories as a kid of watching the Lucky Strike Hour where I heard the most amazing songs and singers (Many other variety shows of the 50's)
the job I have and the hours I work. I have come to appreciate even the late nights
that I have now completed watering everything - sweet
for a childhood and adolescence filled with great music and food - I was fortunate to eat at some of the best restaurants Houston had to offer in the 50's through the 70's
for my Faith today
for a religion that I love and enjoy living
to be sober, clean and smoke-free. It blows my mind to realize that November is only 4 months away
that AA led me to wonderful new ways of life
that had it not been for the years in AA I would not be experiencing this wonderful life !
Thank you people of AA and Lambda Center
Thank YOU Lord !

So much hurt and heart ache in the news and with folks all around. I wish I could blink my eyes and make things ok and happy.

The news stated that Israel may go to war with Iran over their nuclear weapons advanced and the U.S. is talking about how hurd it will be for us (U.S.A.) to be spread out in another conflict in yet another country. HELLO !!!!!!

Who, when did anyone invite us to go in there and fight? Why do we think we are supposed to fight in every skirmish that comes along? I am so sick of this B. S. of war and interference. Where does it get us? More young men and women in coffins for no good reason.

It seems as though our country is trying to self-destruct. If these 3 and 4 Star Generals want to fight so damn badly, why don't they go into the combat and leave the innocent majority of soldiers to go home to their families-alive. There has not been anyone threatening our borders since 2001. This is now 2008. Ben Laden isn't even a good reason any more.

On a happier note, a company has now made (like-plastic) bottles out of corn - totally bio-degradable. I am in awe. It will save a ton of oil.

Wish List:

to have a greater faith and trust in God
to love my fellow-man (woman) more
to be more charitable and kind
to smile more, love more, be more patient
to do the right thing just because it's the right thing to do
to do something special for someone else that no one finds out about
to have a clear conscience, no axes to grind with anyone
to wish other's all the happiness, prosperity and Grace that I want for myself
to hug that little Precious gift that God gave me tonight and hope that all the little dogs and cats are in their homes and out of harm's way

I am also Grateful and Thankful that I have these wishes tonight
thank YOU

Oh, what wonderful rain and cold wind this afternoon. It was marvelous.

After church had a wonderful lunch and long visit with a couple of friends from church. Coming home I got to enjoy that great cold breeze and lighting show. The rain finally started and, I was reluctant to roll up my car window on the passenger side. When it really began coming down hard, I had to.

I have had a relatively quiet and uneventful weekend. Actually, I have been having the same kind for some weeks now. It is just too hot, I have gotten too heavy and I just don't much care about straying too far from my base.

Another work week begins but - Friday off ! Yeah, I can dig it.

I am Grateful and Thankful for...

too many things and far too much to even put into words (for a change)
thank YOU

life safari 2008y

Well, happy Friday !! It is good to have an end to this work week.
I was not able to mow this morning. Yesterday morning I got out and watered everything well and for some reason got very ill after. So, I think it best to save that kind of work for Saturday. Having to go in to work feeling ill is not pleasant and is dangerous considering I was feeling to light-headed and faint.

Feeling better this morning, thank the Lord. I know one thing - I played a very small part in getting to the job. The work I did was to get dressed and pray for help getting there.

I am having to access my eating pattern also. That had everything to do with the problem. I usually do not eat until I fininsh my coffee in the mornings. Working in the heat on an empty stomach could be a major part of the problem. It has been fine for a long time but, time is marching on and I am not as young as I think of myself as being. It is a good case of still thinking my body is as young as my mind wants to think it is. Being over-weight is added into the mix and - OH BABY !!

Well, I guess I have had my pitty-party long enough. Now for what I am Grateful for:

to be alive
to have fairly good health considering how I treat my body
to have rain lately
for the prospect of more in the coming days
that I have a sense of peace and tranquility like I've never known prior
for my Faith today
Precious-what a Gift from God
to be changing into a more Faith-based person
Thank YOU

we have a nice breeze this morning-hot but I always welcome a breeze.
tomorrow is Friday, yeah !!!!!
some weeks seem much longer than others, this has been one of those long ones.
I spent much of this morning watering all the plants well. I still have the sprinkler on the front and side beds. Hopefully, I will feel up to getting the yard mowed at 8:00 am tomorrow morning and then can do the finishing - up trimming on Saturday.

this is the first year that I really have been enjoying the yard work - all of it, every time. That is a new feeling for me, just as some of the other enjoyments I have acquired the past year.

I am Grateful and Thankful for/that...

there is a larger group of birds feeding on the bird seed put out this year. I have several Cardinals, Mourning Dove, Blue Jays, Mocking Birds, a Tri Colored (wing) Black Bird (have not been Blessed with one of these for some years), Sparrows and Inca Dove
for the Faith I have today
Precious and her sweet and loving manner
that I am still employed and I am enjoying it more. Even though I must work late more and more
that I use my down time more efficiently and my working time more systematically so I create more down time there too
for life itself ! I have a friend who has cancer in the terminal stages. He was in Catechism class with me-Jack, I'm happy that you achieved what you truly wanted the past year
for new ways of seeing life, death and relationships
God's Grace
thank YOU

life safari 2008v

Goood Morning !!
little dog is still alive and came and ate and drank. He was sound asleep in a neighbor's flowerbed. My joy is that he is alive one more day. I know however, this is just a bandaid over a gaping would - his chances of of survival are hopeless since no one can approach him.
My gut feeling is that this little creature of God was left to survive on his own by the house on the corner -he seems very familiar with that particular place.
My heart aches for situations like this. Today, it brings to mind the sufferings of humans that spend their day trying to find food to eat, water and shelter to get rest where ever they can find it - what an exhausting way to live from day to day !

It is amazing to me to see this little dog rally each day when I find him and call him to let him know there is food down. I want to pet and hold him close, take him in give him love that gets chipped away each day from him. Soon, he'll tire of the whole process and probably walk out into the street to put an end to it. I thought that was what he was doing two evenings ago. I was so proud of his intelligence that he did not go into Corporate Drive. But, he does, in fact venture out in traffic if I try and get too close (Less that a football field).

Today, I am grateful and thankful...
that Precious is safe and healthy
that caring has extended to humans for me today
that I realize the gifts God has Blessed me with
to be greatful and willing to share what I have been Blessed with
Saint Francis of Assisi and His over-sight of all God's creatures
The Grace of God in my life today
thank YOU

What a beautiful day the Lord has made today !!

Got my flowers watered and the little dog has not shown itself as yet today. He/she did eat the food left out last evening.

That precious little dog sure knows to stay out of Corporate Drive. I did give it a chance at all the first day I saw it.

Well, I simply could not contain my happy feelings to be alive, well, and happier than I've ever been in my life on my blog this afternoon.

I must get to work and, that is another joy in my life today as well. I have great hours, I get much done in my time prior to work, I am earning a full weeks pay now again, Plus, I get more and more hours because Microsoft is having more meetings at night now.

Plenty of time to utilize those hours for prayer and meditation !!

One little phrase has helped me more than I can believe of late...

Kathy, change your thoughts: change your life.

Happy Monday !

it has been awhile since I've made an entry. Life happens. My CPU was down for a time, a power surge took out my regulator (and surge protector). All fixed for less than $ 200.00.

I am Grateful and Thankful for...

Life, itself. It is marvelous to be alive, well and happy
to be sober, clean and smoke-free
for the little stray dog that let me feed and water it yesterday. That poor thing. It was so hungry and thirsty that after wolfing down a can and a half of cat food and a gallon of water, slept from sheer exhaustion and contentment
it appears the poor baby has been homeless for awhile. very thin, mangie looking, seems to know the 2 streets bordering mine, will not come near a person or let anyone approach it. I suspect that owners moved away and left it to fend for itself
that I have a soft heart for under-dogs of all types
for the safety and health of Precious
that the storm has blown over at work and that I have changed those self-defeating behaviors - one day at a time
for a gratifying day with my across the street neighbor - we celebrated Father's Day with a wonderful lunch together. Thank you Don for your company yesterday and Happy Father's Day, again !
for this wonderful coffee. For honey and the bees that are still making it
that I will work both shifts at work today. I have ceased grousing about extra work
to be happy, joyous and free,
thank YOU

life safari 2008s

Oh, Happy Friday !

It has been a long week. Had to stay late at work two nights in a row - my local software company has had meetings.
My a/c in the car is out. I appreciate any cool air more than I ever have.
I have been staying busy on a pretty consistant schedule for the past few weeks. I have a couple of days that I can recoup if my back is giving me problems or I just need a bit more sleep - sweet !
I have been on the computer longer tonight than I have in weeks. Looked in on some of my friend's Blogs - very entertaining and fun.

I'll be staying in town the long weekend. My lawn needs cutting and I want to trim some plants and get them looking more groomed. It will be fun to have an extra day away from work - I am tired. For about 9 months I was only working a 4 day work week. Now I'm back to 5 days a week - yes, I feel it !

I am Grateful and Thankful for/that...

I have a new outlook on life
I do not wish to shut the door on my past and,
I do see where my experiences can benefit someone else.
I am very Blessed and have a very full life now. There have been so many changes in me since I started my Faith Journey. The culmination of hard work, study, trust and belief in God and happiness in the Catholic Religion came to a fantastic crescendo on the Sunday of my Confirmation and First Holy Communion. A very close friend of mine said that I was absolutely glowing that day. And, I was. It has been the happiest day of my life. I knew that being able to participate in the Lord's Supper was going to be a transforming experience for me and, it has been !
that we are free to celebrate any religion we choose, here, in America
for God's Grace
for God's gifts - the gift of my faith, the gift of Precious in my home life. the gift of forgiveness of sins, the gift of Love and abundant JOY
Praise to YOU, Lord Jesus Christ !

thank YOU !!!!

Oh yes, today is the 34th anniversary of my Mother's death. I held her in my prayers and thoughts today. I miss you Mother ! And, I love you, Mother !

Well, I have been out of the loop for a time. dAAve got a neat, restored T-Bird, he anad his friend have found a new home - such exciting stuff !!!

Today, I am Grateful and Thankful for/that...

I'm off work today and tomorrow

Have a WONDERFUL DAY !!!!!

Happy Thursday, everyone ! Got a spot of rain, now the sun is out - you Houstonians know what THAT means. Say it...humidity to the max

Today, I am Grateful and Thankful...
to be alive and well
to have a job that I like
to have a job, period !
for the bit of rain we did get this morning
for the Gift of Faith that I have today
to the Lord Jesus Christ for His Gifts of many Blessings
that I seek ways to give back what He has generously given me - I don't have to look very far
I am Blessed to be able to help some of the homeless and hungry folks in my area
for the Gift of this very precious cat who lives with me and keeps me laughing. She curled up that fairly large body into a round plastic planter on top of the table in the atrium - what a hoot it was to watch her circle and figure out how to curl up in it - she has great perseverence !
for love
for joy
for health
for happiness
for sobriety
thank YOU
and, for not smoking ! I can breathe - Praise God !

Another gorgeous day in HTown.

It's trash day, good bye ivy that I torn down from the wall of my house ! Good bye and good riddance. What a mess.

It was a wonderful cool and breezy day Saturday. I worked in the yard all day until I could barely move. The house and yard are much improved.

Work is going well. The other shoe has not dropped on my head, as yet. Perhaps the trauma is over (?) I hope so.

Good morning. Well, I may have gotten myself fired Friday. If so, it's ok, I popped off to someone because I was kept late by, guess who, M___S__T once again ! So, if I'm done, I good with it. Frankly, I have not been happy there for some time now. I can't get on the morning shift and I'm sick of these late meetings, unanounced meetings, meetings called and don't materialize, well, you get it.

Had a frank discussion with Sonny yesterday regarding what's going on inside me lately. It was a real good talk and I am so happy to spend some time with him. He's doing well and feeling fit - that makes me happy.

I am Grateful and Thanful that/for...

I have a busy week because of April 15th - my least favorite time of the year !
I am prepared for anything today
it is ok with me whatever happens this week
a wonderful Mass yesterday - Father Tom gave a great Homily and I got a beautiful, intimate Blessing from a newly ordained Priest
