TGIF and PD

I am Grateful for/that...

I finally got fed up and ordered DSL. And, I'm having it rushed ! Not 25X faster, 50X. I'm tired of this crawling speed

I scanned some slides and negatives to upload (when I get the DSL next week)

yesterday when I went into work I was able to apologize for my behavior toward my co-worker

I have let go of the "struggle" once again

We have some important things in common around the recovery process

She and her husband (who celebrates 18 yrs. weekend after this) are planning to come to my AA Birthday in Nov. - cool

for my really nice Nikon Scanner I got some years ago. I haven't used it in a couple of years and it works like a charm

I am grateful that, considering how befuddled I've been of late, had no trouble using it

I'm getting more comfortable with operating these programs

looking back over the past through my photos, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to do so many different things over the years

I realize that I have had, and I'm still having an exceptional life

That it isn't the activities that make my life exceptional today. It is the people in my life and the fellowship with them

today I am fine with the blog, picasa, flickr - I wasn't even close to tossing the computer out in the yard

tomorrow is Saturday and I look forward to Frank and Barbara's company. I anticipate some very meaningful conversation with Frank on the drive

I have a strong drive and excitement about completing projects that please me

all this drawing and photography uploading may cause me to drag out some of my cameras again - I'm getting the bug to pick up my 35mm and film again. Digital is nice but, it's hard to beat film, slides

God's Grace

Thank YOU

Hopefully my friend in Washington State will drop in and see me. Hi Chick !

Welcome. Come back and see what I am doing from time to time.

Blogging is just a journal. Keeps me off the streets and out of trouble. (and if you believe that, I've got another one for you).

Love you my friend.

Good morning world. Nice rain today. The sky and winds looked very threatening at the onset of this system. Fortunately, all that calmed down.

I am Grateful for/that...

tomorrow is payday and Friday. I love it when that happens.
one more day of sober and clean and interacting in the world
a timely share about "struggle" -just what I needed to stand down
having small successes even though I hope for BIG ones
my mind seems more clear this morning. I've been befuddled lately
that is how "struggle" effects me
I am an alcoholic in recovery
I heard from Lady A day before last. Says she's sober and doing o.k.
the love and caring my AA family shows me every day
it's one day closer to my safari with Frank to Chappell Hill - yahoo
the change of pace the trip will bring
Precious. She is so patient and loving. I have not given her much of my time lately
the awareness that I can not take anything for granted
putting that awareness into action today
Grace and Blessings that are unearned. Just a GIFT
thank YOU

Hello msb. Thank you for visiting. I may scrap this whole site and start from scratch soon. And, get DSL very soon.

The past few days (evening I should say) everything I touch on the blog business gets messed up. There are changes now that I didn't have before. ???????????

I think all of these programs have minds of their own. Good thing because, mine seems to be fried.

I mostly think that I need to just step away from all things computer,picture,posts,flickr,Picasa2.

Get the picture?

life safari #32

I can not seem to remember the different processes for uploading things from one day to the next.
I took photos of Scott's artwork in my bedroom and, for some unknown reason can not get them into my Picasa program. That is one of the best programs for adjusting lighting, contrast, color of photos that I have ever used. Perhaps I will get them in there eventually (?).

I tell you, I feel my mental capacity is slipping. I wake up in a new world every day.

Today, I am Grateful and Thankful that/for...

the fact that at least I wake up every day - I'm here
that I am sober and clean
I'm having a restful morning (except for stressing over these processes)
that I can and do choose not to stress over it starting NOW - oh, if only my emotions came with a Delete and Enter button
that I was finally able to share some of my photos. No matter how I finally got to it-thats to all who have gone on my site and looked
that the pressure in my right eye is now down to "normal" after all these trying months
that my dental work is complete
I have a full set of teeth - most crowns now but, hey, they're mine
I have hair
I have wonderful/horrible memories. All of the instances of both have shaped who I am today
To have the AA program and friends/AA family to help me sift and integrate the "positive" ones into my behavior (most days now)
Thank YOU, and YOU and, of course, YOU

life safari #31

Well, I finally got finished scanning some slides and posting them. My favorite topic and subject for years - my 2 African Safari's (photo, of course).

I am Grateful for/that...

my scanner. I haven't used it in some time, just like riding a bike
these cool photo/album programs of today (Flickr and Picasa)
that another day at work is over
tomorrow is "HUMP DAY" and one day closer to Kat and Frank's outstanding adventure
an interesting storm this afternoon
Payday at the end of this week
Steel Claw is out of town
I'm sober and clean
Precious is still here with me
the things I've been fortunate to do and see in my life
Bob was in a playful, cheery mood today
my paintings from Scott - I enjoy looking at them
that I can sleep in later today
that DSL is out there and I'm going to get it
I'm almost ready to go lay ddown - I'm tired all of a sudden
that I have a bed to lay in and a roof over my head
thank YOU

Well, I thought I had the adding the HTML process down. I guess like most everything else, it will take me some tries before I "getit." And right now - that's just A-OK.

Mike, my boss got a kick out of going to my blog site when I got in and looking at the photos.

He actually requested a print of The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. And so, he shall get it. It is his birthday on Thursday. Perhaps I'll cook up an ARTRAGE painting just for him.

Well, it's almost 10:00 pm. I'm going to catch the news tonight.

Oh, I got an invitation to go with my friend Frank to Chappel Hill this Saturday. We have alongtime AA frind there. We'll make a day of it. It will be a great change from this Blogg Site, tending to the yard and eating. I look forward to the journey. We'll have some quality time to talk on the way there and back.

I am feeling better tonight. It was really fun to watch Mike today. He got a kick out of seeing those photos - made it all worth it. That's really all I wanted to do with them anyway.

So, the news is starting. I feel great at this moment at the prospects of a day trip.

I have the Eye Specialist tomorrow morning so my Gratitude List will be late.

Happy Trails to all of YOU.

life safari #30

I am Grateful...

for a new day and a new week
for the sunshine this morning
the possibility to see friends in a couple of hours
another payday next week
I'm sober and clean today
I still have some hair on my head after yesterday's horendous struggle
my yard looks fabulous to me after so much sweat equity on Saturday
that I have a yard, home, car. I could have lost it all drinking and acting a fool
Precious and her companionship
for another challenge today - I get to try and learn to improve an area of my blog later
for help from SW
for Grace
for having ARTRAGE - I can put feelings into pictures
For the possibility of getting back to a comfortable place Spiritually. I have been "out there," untethered, feeling alone and lost. Once again, I moved
to have the strength to get the ox and cart out of the ditch I've driven it into this weekend
thank YOU

Happy Sunday -what a lie. I am soooo unhappy today

After hours of trying to set up flickr zieghest, I give up. I seem to be inept at all things website.

Perhaps my friends do not realize that I am a neophite at this posting, blogging, flickr'ing stuff.

Once again I have to fall back on... this process is more to stay busy and "TRY" to learn new things. I am disgusted that results are non-existent given all the hours I have put forth the effort. I have tried and failed once again BUT, I tried and tried again.

I am Grateful...

I have some physical work to do to get rid of my pent-up frustrations
one more day off from the job
movies to watch after I complete my yard work
antidepressants
rain today
forecast for rain tomorrow
to realize and accept that I am depressed at this moment
acceptance
AA
friends and family
SW for doing his best to help me figure this stuff out

I worked in the yards all day and some this evening. I over-did it and feel it in every molecule of my body now.

I have been puttsing around on my Flickr account, trying to get it where other's can go in and view my photos. Not that they are anything to write home about. Just a way to share a bit of my life thru some family photos and things.

I must cut up branches that I trimmed from my ash tree tomorrow. That is all I have to do in conjuction with yard work tomorrow.

It was a pleasant evening tonight with Precious. She spent some time in the atrium which always makes her very happy. She (fortunately) has not found any critters to annihilate lately.

Rented some movies and watched one earlier tonight.

Just wanted to mess around before going to bed. Now I will lay me down to sleep. Goodnight.

Thank goodness for the weekends. I don't feel encumbered on Saturday. That is one of the most satisfying feelings I have to look forward to all week.

I am Grateful...

that although I have much in my life to "clean up," I am happy, joyous, and free
I stumbled on some trip-wires in my days this week but over-all, I stayed calm, polite and friendly
for this over-cast day. It will be a Blessing given the yard work ahead of me this day
that although I wish I could adopt all animals in shelters, I don't
to be alive today
to be sober, clean, smoke-free another day
I have eyes to see, ears to hear. I must never take these things for granted
for Lady Bird and her contribution to the world, to Texas, to the people
God rest her soul
for the support of our building's clients - one of our own is the unfortunate couple who lost that precious 2 year old in the parking lot incident. I learned that Thursday evening.
I am grateful for the response of our "family" at work
God Bless you too McG family

What a nice thing - sleep and feeling rested. When I was young I pulled all-nighters often. Now, it takes two days and nights to recover.

I am Grateful for/that...

it is Friday - an end to a long and hot week
Friday's are a cake walk at work
a group of folks I didn't care for at first has now become a group of folks I enjoy and look forward to cutting up with
the level of energy I have always had -it is a Blessing
I can get some other tasks done in the yards this weekend (between rains)
a relaxing morning. I do not feel internally torn to be anywhere else
getting to be involved with so many dynamic people (many of them in AA)
I bit my tongue at work yesterday and didn't get myself in trouble
thoughts are quiet - if anyone heard them, oh my goodness gracious !
no matter who in my world is upset with me, my Precious cat loves me unconditionally
I am seeing some of the areas where I am "challenged"
I accept the facts of above and, today, do not need to judge myself or beat myself up. It just "is"
that I am alive, sober, clean and smoke-free another day
and what a beautiful life I have today
the Grace of God
and my friends and family

Oh Brother ! I have worked, checked, found when reopened the work I just did is not there.
Worked, checked, same thing. Reworked. It is amazing how time flies when I am totally focused on a goal.

It occurs to me that I may expect work to appear in a nano second. Perhaps it actually takes a few moments for the system to configure. Go figure. It has been a theme in my life up until this very moment.

Instant gratification. I want it now. I want to see it at the instant I push the "save" button.

I just know at this point that I am Grateful...

that I don't have to be anywhere until I report for work at 2:00 tomorrow
I can have some coffee now and then sleep for a few hours
I might learn some skills in these new endeavors in spite of myself
for friends that offer mucho assistance
to go lie down and rest my back. It is going to feel very good after all this whoop-la tonight
for a gut wrenching story at noon. I have nothing but respect for that woman !
for sobriety
for AA
for my fellows
for really wanting to make people happy today
to know a little about service to others these days
that Precious is so patient with me
I am going to be patient with myself today
For Grace
that I have not had that cigarette that I want while I sit at this computer
that I really am going to stop and go to bed now (right after I make some coffee)
Good Night

Well, I'm still trying to upload a photo to put on my blogger profile. I try again periodically. I came closer today than ever. At least the computer said it was uploading the photo. It never made it to the profile however. I will not stop trying until I get it on there. I want to leave my picture next to my comments like the rest. A fun moniker.

Scott, have you heard from Sober Chick latey? I don't recall seeing her comments lately. I may search around on your blog and see if I find her. I'll give her a jingle.

Until later, Happy Trails To You.

I truly strive to have a pleasant and positive outlook today
the fact that I have SW to forge the path ahead of me in this endeavor

that the fledgling was nowhere to be seen yesterday evening (and no tell-tale feathers of doom)
although I reverted back to eating those soothing foods yesterday, this is a new week. I make a new start and new resolve
after many years of depending on other's to take care of my business, I have taken the driver's seat. I am very grateful to my sister who has had the biggest impact on helping me learn to take things upon myself. Thank you , Janice !

I am Grateful that...

another morning with no rain
I will get the atrium spruced up today
I did not go buy those sweets I wanted last night
I can start the new week feeling much better about my home (the outside, at least)
I have hope that the fledgling dove on the ground will survive and grow - I did my part to help it
today I know that I can do only so much - then it is up to God and the bird, alcoholic, whatever
I was not flooded out on my journey last evening or stranded away from home
all is safe, happy, joyous and free in my world as far as I know today

I am Grateful...

the lack of rain all day
that I got my front and back yard mowed
that I feel like I have a heavy weight off of my chest now -yards looked horrible !!!
that I didn't fall out from exhaustion
I stopped and had a sandwich so that I wouldn't fall out
that the front yard looks good now
I got the plants straightened up in the beds
I get to walk out and admire the work in a few minutes
that I reached out to Deanna and we have plans. I have frustrated her because I told her we should do things together and then was not able to follow through
for the fact that I am not overeating and so, I have more time on my hands to do other things
I am proud of myself for the changes I've made lately
that "I Am" growing and changing
that "I Am" going to lose this weight I put on
that "I Am" able to have a better attitude because I'm not sabotoging my happiness today
for the fact that I do not have to judge my past. It is what it is and was then -moving on...
that "I Am" a worthwhile person today. I try very hard to be what I define as "good"

oh man, my feet and legs are cramping up on me. Too long a period since I worked this physically hard. I think another banana is in order. And, a couple of Advil wouldn't hurt.

that I will finish the book, then decide whether I want to incorporate any or some of the information/ideas it contains.

that I have people who share their experiences and what helps them along the way. Please don't ever stop.

that I am aware of my tendency to be closed-minded. Ok,Ok, a closed "trap door." I'm working on it.

Well, what an action packed day. I didn't do anything I needed to (like mow yard) I did what I wanted to.

I saw La Vie En Rose. Oh My, I was so impressed and glued to my seat. It is the best I've ever seen. I mentally keep pinching myself, asking myself if I really saw what I saw.

I didn't cry, it was too sad for tears. Also too much meat to take time away to cry. I was mesmerized, I tell you. I fell in love with the woman, the child she was, her voice and stature.

What a woman, what a life and what a real fantastic job of art the entire movie was.

One part of the film was so spell-binding to me. The director absolutely made the film unforgettable and dynamic with that scene (for me).

Enough about that. Birthday Night was fantastic tonight also. And dinner before, superb.

Now here it is 2:32 am, Sunday morning and I'm still messing around. And, I'm not the only one awake. Someone answered an invitation to join me on a new site. Thank you SW.

Well, I go to bed with La Vie En Rose still very vivid in my mind. I hear Edith singing, see her singing. I love her voice. That "Little Sparrow" with the big voice, Edith Piaf's life will haunt me, delight me, anger me and please me for a time to come.

I think the movie is a "must see." I hope it wins some (all) Academy Awards. Bravo !!!!!

life safari # 11 1/2

Good evening. Wanted to do a bit more work of The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. It is complete.

Also, news about Lady A.

She came to the noon meeting. Early this time, dressed for an interview, sober and looking bright and bushy-tailed.

She is attending IOP, has remained sober the past days, contrary to what I thought. Just shows me, I can not judge people by my
thoughts because they are not doing what I think they should.

She is seeking. She wants a Higher Power. I believe she has become aware that, as an addictive person she needs and wants to
embrace Conscience Contact with a Higher Power.

She may join me at Mass on Sundays. I hope she will. My life has been enriched by going. I lay my head down tonight a very happy woman. I pray that Lady A will continue on this path and find recovery. Long, contented sobriety. To live happy, joyous and free (most of the time) like the rest of us. Good night Lady A. Be careful on your journey to and from town at night.

I am Grateful that...

I am clean and sober another day
I have the opportunity to change my life today
I look forward to seeing my family at noon
I am not Lady A or others like her
I can have compassion for those mentioned above however, after doing what I could to help, I can turn it over to God and have my hands off of their spiral down, down, down. And, they will not take me with them.
AA is my life raft
It is almost the weekend. What a celebration of better life in sobriety Saturday will be. June is a huge month. I know many of the celebrants - I am proud of you all !
I can be proud of my efforts to change. However, I still fail miserably in my eyes and, I believe in God's eyes. I must work much harder.
I vow to apply myself this day to setting those stubborn habits and defects of character free. Perhaps if I just let go, God can remove them.
Let Go and Let God today missy
thank YOU

I am Grateful for...

life safari #9

Good evening, I cannot seem to get a photo on my profile so you'll have to bare with me.

I am grateful that/for...
The book called: The Mass-An Invitation to Enjoy It - volumes of reading later, this small book explains The Mass, the Liturgical Year and the concept of being a Catholic very understandable. Thank you Don !
Another day of this week down. Only 3 more days to go.
That Lady A called and seems to be ok. I carried out my word to introduce her to someone in law who may be able to help her get a job. I hope something good will come of it. Thank you Dan !
Tracy's recovery from the depths. She went through some very dark days and stayed sober and clean through it. What a Miracle you are Tracy. I'm glad you are among our nooner meetings.
The help I get from my devout Catholic friends. They are helping me realize a 9 year dream. So exciting are Catholics to share their faith and have a new person enter their faith family.
Watermelon & peaches in the summer.
For this Precious Cat whom I have the joy of living with. I love you Precious and I'm Blessed that you are safe and alive today.
Thank You God !

I am sad for several people who have had devastating occurances in the past few days.
I wish I could make it all better for them. Just know, I am with you in spirit and you are in my prayers.

I am Grateful that...
I am fortunate to not be suffering a loss, personally at this time
I am sober and clean another day
Precious is safe and healthy
I came out the other end of my losses and can feel compassion and empathy for other's in that situation
God has given me pain and joy so that I can be of service to other's
I have no desire to drink or drug. Wish I could magically give that to Lady A
I am concerned for other's today rather than eaten up with myself
it's not me,me,me any more
because I'm an alcoholic, I have a program to better my life. people that support and love me.
why did I take so long to get there?
now that I am there, my goal is to die sober and clean and take as many with me as possible !
Lady A, please join me on the road to Happy Destiny.

life safari #7 1/2

What an eventful day. Dennis had his 13 th AA birthday. I received three pieces of art by Scott W. All very dynamic and heady. I am pleased as punch to have aquired his work. I hope he is successful and renowned in the future.

Lady A is still sober. Thank God for that. She has struggled for so long and is so young and pretty. Sweet too (sober). I don't think I would like her much loaded. I am afraid for her. She can not see to break away from her drinking patterns. I do understand that she has many hurts, regrets and misses her children dearly. I can not imagine what she has to go through not seeing them. It can not be easy.

I am Grateful that...
I am clean and sober another day
My friends and family look forward to my showing up at the nooner and I look forward to them showing up there. We're expected. We're counted on. We're missed when we're not there.
When I was drinking no one missed me except those girls at the Cabaret and that was only the $$$$$ they missed.
I'm grateful for the 2 books and articles Don brought me this afternoon. And the card, always knows what we enjoy, our tastes and likes. Love you, Love you, Love you.
A slow day at work. I was able to read pretty consistently the book : The Mass: An invitation to Enjoy It.
The book describes some of the dynamics of the Mass such as, after leaving Mass, we are to go out into the world and live the faith we have just professed. Live the Mass in our world. Thank you Don.
Thank you too Frank. Two pious individuals who are helping me understand and reach for my goal.
For the appreciation I have aquired for persons, places and things that I took for granted in my drinking/drugging days. Thank You and Peace be with You All.

life safari #6

Good afternoon.

I believe I was very tired. I normally get up pretty early, not so today.

I am Grateful...
that God has seen fit to allow me another day. I look forward to living up to my promise of staying in faith, changing my behavior in areas that trip me up, and sharing about the Grace I have been given.
for my sobriety and another day of being smoke-free.
helping a fellow alcoholic yesterday. I stayed sober, what a gift. Thank you Lady A.
for hearing a wonderful story of recovery last night - what a life. And he didn't have time to really go into details.
for Precious. God's other gift of Grace to me. So many !
it isn't raining today.
I have the option of mowing the back yard, cleaning up the rest of the front yard -or not.
that my thoughts are with Lady A. I can not help but worry whether or not she has 3 days today. I trust that she is under her Higher Power's wing and that I've done and said enough for now. It's an inside job for those who want it, not who need it.
that I want it ! for many years I didn't and it almost left me dead on the outside too. Get what I'm putting down?
Thank you fellow bloggers for being active in my life. It is a changing experience.

Grace
